You know it's good when there's a cue outside!!
We came here as a group of 7 so we had to wait a while for tables (Approx 30 minutes), luckily the weather is good!
Service is extremely quick and efficient.
Food came out nice and hot all cooked to a high standard. Good flavour, decent portions and good value for money.
I liked the atmosphere, lots of hustle and bustle but not ruining the experience.
Overall a great restaurant with a varied menu that caters for all tastes and top food!!

I ordered and paid for a whole roast duck for takeout. I asked the staff to cut it for me, and even though the shop was not busy, they repeatedly rushed me out and refused to let me stay inside while the duck was being prepared.
When I got home and opened the box, I was honestly stunned. Inside was only one leg and two duck tails (the butt ends). That’s it. No breast, no wings — just scraps.
Is this what you call a “whole duck”? Do you really think customers won’t notice or care?
This is unbelievably cheap, dishonest, and disrespectful. Absolutely terrible experience.
I will never return.

⭐ Happy Seasons Manchester — The Roast Meats Pilgrimage (Haaland Approved?)

If you’ve ever wandered through Manchester Chinatown on a rainy afternoon thinking, “Where does Haaland actually get his roast duck fix?” — follow the red neon sign that says Happy Seasons.
Yes, that Happy Seasons. The legendary spot people queue for… and now I finally understand why.

🥢 What I ordered (and absolutely demolished):
• Three Roast Meat on Rice — roast duck, char siu, crispy pork belly
• Wonton Soup — light, warming, packed with proper cabbage sweetness
• Portions? Generous. Proper meal-sized. Zero regrets.

🔥 The moment the plate landed… hook

The roast duck came out glossy, smoky, and ridiculously tender — the kind that falls apart before your spoon even makes contact.
The char siu? Sticky, sweet, perfectly charred edges.
The crispy pork belly? Crackling so loud it should come with a noise warning.

And when everything sits on top of fluffy rice with that little scoop of cabbage on the side…
It’s the holy trinity of Cantonese comfort food.

No gimmicks. No overhype. Just proper good roast meats that taste like someone’s grandma has been perfecting the recipe for the last 40 years.

🍜 Bonus: The Wonton Soup

A simple bowl, but absolute perfection on a rainy Manchester day.
Clear broth, soft wontons, gentle sweetness from the napa cabbage.
Feels like a warm hug — or a tactical substitution when you need extra comfort.
💷 Value for Money

For the portion size and the quality?
100% worth it.
It’s the kind of meal that fills you up without emptying your wallet — rare in the UK these days.

📍 Should you go?

If you love roast meats: yes.
If you’re hungry: definitely yes.
If you want to eat where footballers eat: absolutely yes.

Happy Seasons isn’t fancy. It doesn’t try to be.
It’s just one of Manchester’s most reliable, delicious, and iconic Cantonese eateries.

Verdict: 10/10. Would follow Haaland’s footsteps again.

The space is small, and expect you to eat fast so they can serve the table to next customers, definitely not a place if you want to relax and talk to your friends. The food is ok.

The roast duck tasted okay but it’s already cold when it’s served, the beef fried rice is not salty enough. Also if you eat here, make sure to check the receipt when you pay ‘cause 2 cans of coke you never ordered may appear on the bill and cost you £7!
